About Turbomeca Australasia

Company Presentation

Turbomeca Australasia (TAA) is a Turbomeca subsidiary which is part of the International Safran group, one of the world's leading aerospace corporations, specialized in propulsion, equipment and associated services.

Created in 1994, TAA is the only helicopter OEM fully present in Australia.

Using locally recruited personnel, Turbomeca has created a full engine overhaul and test facility at Bankstown Airport. Since its creation in 1994, the company has grown to over 100 employees, an expansion that will continue in 2007 in order to respond to a growing workload.

TAA is currently involved in the assembly of MTR 390 engines for the Australian Defence Force Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) program and RTM322 engines for the MRH90 Helicopter (multi-role helicopter) program.

A Repair Centre for the repair and overhaul of the Tiger engine will be completed in 2007 and a similar facility is planned for the MRH90 engine.

TAA has just completed a major expansion to the facilities, which has approximately doubled production capacity and includes a warehouse holding extensive spare parts, with a pool of engines and modules that are available on site for customers.

The company offers full OEM Engineering Support as part of the worldwide support network.

A smaller but important part of the Bankstown activity is Microturbo Australasia, created in 1999 to support Microturbo products in service in Australia, currently the APU (Auxilliary Power Units) and ATS (Air Turbine Starters) in service with the RAAF Hawk 127 Lead-In-Fighter. The Hawk is powered by the Rolls Royce-Turbomeca Adour engine that is maintained by Qantas.
